Plug-in Solar WAThe independent guide to balcony solar in WA Not legal yet

About this guide

Plug-in Solar WA puts the WA rules for plug-in solar in one place, in plain English, and keeps them current as the government finalises them.

Who writes it

I'm Daniel Kilkelly, from Perth. I research and write the guides on this site. I started it when WA announced it would be the first state to allow plug-in solar, because the rules are spread across a consultation paper, a 38-page draft standard and an FAQ.

I am not an electrician, and nothing here is electrical, legal or financial advice. For anything to do with your own wiring, talk to a licensed electrician.

Independence

This site is not run by, or connected to, the WA Government, Synergy, Western Power, Horizon Power or any solar company. Facts come from the government's own documents first, and every guide lists its sources. How that works is on the editorial policy page.

How the site makes money

The site shows Google AdSense ads to cover its costs. Google chooses the ads, they are kept separate from the guides, and they do not change what any page says. In future it may also earn commission on some links to retailers, or offer paid featured listings. Anything paid will be clearly marked, and payment never decides whether a kit is described as compliant.
