Approved plug-in solar kits in WA
No plug-in solar kit is approved for WA yet. Kits can only be certified once the WA standard is final, which the government expects in 2027. Each approved kit will be listed here as soon as it is registered.
0 approved kits so far
The first listings will appear after the final standard is published and makers have their kits tested and registered.
Makers and importers: ask to be listedWhat a compliant WA kit will need
Under the draft Technical Bridging Standard, a plug-in kit sold for use in WA will have to meet all of this. The plate on the right is the short version.
- An inverter rated at 800 VA or less, with no more than 2 kW of panels.
- A standard Australian 3-pin plug on its own cable, straight into a wall socket.
- Type tests by a NATA-accredited lab against the WA standard.
- Registration under the national Electrical Equipment Safety System, so it carries the RCM mark.
- A mounting kit type-tested for wind loads up to wind region B.
- If it has a battery: LFP or sodium-ion cells on the DC side of the same inverter, and the green "ES Plug in" label for your switchboard.
- Instructions on notifying Western Power or Horizon Power, and on when to get an electrician to check your wiring first.
